Third Thursday in Downtown Akron

Posted July 17, 2017

If you are looking for a new way to experience Akron, check out the 3rd Thursday series, a new monthly event by the Downtown Akron Partnership that highlights downtown's best arts, culture, cuisine and entertainment offerings.

Hop on the free trolley and indulge in some of the city's top art, music, shopping and dining destinations from the Northside District to the University of Akron and points in between. More than 20 destinations are participating in the event, which takes place the third Thursday of each month, 5-9 p.m.

The event, an evolution of the Akron Artwalk series held the first Saturday of each month, aims to introduce visitors and residents to independent destinations, events and activities and establish the city as a destination for all things art and culture. http://www.downtownakron.com/explore/3rd-thursday

The series runs through December and features a different theme each month:

Thursday, July 20: Peace, Love & Art
Thursday, Aug. 17: Akron's Music History
Thursday, Sept. 21: Art Fashion and Design
Thursday, Oct. 19: Day of the Dead
Thursday, Nov. 16: Thankful Thursday
Thursday, Dec. 21: Winterfest

100% Up-cycled Accessories for Father's Day

Posted June 14, 2017

We have a great selection of upcycled accessories for any dad this Father's Day. All art is crafted from authentic materials. They were either found, salvaged, or traded but never bought new. In the studio the designers at Makeshift transform these found "pieces/parts" allowing them to carry forward their prior history, while being re-purposed into unique one of a kind pieces, which are considered to be 100% upcycled. The quality of all the pieces will last for generations.

Give the gift of whimsy!

Posted June 12, 2017

This Sunday, June 18th is Father's Day. Why not celebrate dad's one-of-a-kind personality with a fun gift of whimsy from the gallery. These hand-carved stoneware sculptures are created by northeast Ohio artist, Sharon Sheinbart. The facial expressions on all of her sculptures are just amazing. She is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art. No two pieces are alike! A wonderful gift for the dad that's a dog love (or even a turtle-lover). Stop by the gallery Mon-Sat 11-6, open Friday 11-8. We're worththe trip! For the latest directions during downtown construction click here.
